Appointed: 03 January 2020
Term of Office: 02 January 2024
Body Appointed by: Nanstallon School Staff
I have spent nine years as a primary school teacher, during which time I have held several positions of increased responsibility.
I have previously served as a staff governor in St Issey School and this crystallised the importance of strategic planning in the context of the whole school improvement. I believe strongly that you must keep children at the centre of all change and therefore support the strategic direction at Nanstallon.
Recognition received from the CAPH team as winner of their ‘Primary School of the Year award; the Healthy Schools team (nomination for Cornish Sports Teacher of the Year) and Cornwall Sports Partnership, show that when I have responsibility for a whole school improvement initiative, I am able to rise to the challenge, and articulate my strategic vision to motivate those around me.
My teaching and leadership is based on a pedagogical philosophy of taking a hands-on and enthusiastic approach to learning and creating an environment that is characterised by empathy, mutual support and, above all, an inclusion of all pupils. I strongly believe in developing pupils as independent learners; all pupils need to be fully equipped with the skills to enable them to succeed.
