Appointed: 28/04/2020
Term of Office: 27/04/2024
Body Appointed by: Recommended by Local Authority to Governing Board
I first became involved with Nanstallon (enjoying my first visit to the school in July 2019) in a supporting role for the outgoing Chair, Jo Arundale through the local governance service at School Effectiveness Cornwall. During the global pandemic I took over from Jo Arundale due to the circumstances of her role nationally.
I have lived in Cornwall all my life and after working in banking for some years changed direction and became a teacher. I taught at the Infant School in Torpoint, that I attended as a child, and loved the challenges and rewards that teaching young children gave me, finishing my career as Assistant Head. After retirement I still wanted to use my knowledge and understanding of issues faced by schools and became a governor at Carbeile Junior School, where in 2014, we faced a similar Ofsted judgement to Nanstallon. I hope I can bring some of my experience of governance to the team and work with the school stakeholders to improve outcomes for all.
